An experimental study on orthotopic hepatic allotransplantation for sixteen mongoloid dogs were
carried out at the Department of Surgery, Seoul National University during a period of April to September, 1972. For seven out of sixteen cases, histopathologic alterations of transplanted hepatic tissue were analyzed.
Among seven autopsy cases, one died of extensive rejection phenomenon, but the rest proved to be involved by other factors for their cause of death.
All the cases demonstrated the findings of outflow block, although 6 cases which survived more than 2 days revealed varying degree-of rejection phenomenon.
One case, which expired 2 hours later following vascular anastomosis demonstrated early features of rejection phenomenon.
